Jointly with Korea Customs Research Institute (KCRI),
the company also plans to provide information services
concerning the refund of prepaid customs duties to exporting
firms.
As for the pre-guidance service, priority is given
to various kinds of customs administrative disadvantages
arising from non-performance of responsibility within
a given period as stipulated in customs laws, such as
fines imposed on cargoes that had already been export-declared
but not been shipped until 25 days after the declaration
date. For this, KTNET provides guidance for non-shipment
contents, customs administration PR and legal information
service to businesses.
In the future, KTNET intends to expand the scope of
the service further to include the guidance for implementation
of post-managerial obligations, re-export, arrival of
partial delivery, renewal of the designated period for
firms under credit security, notice for the replacement
of package security, etc.
KCS expects that through the present service it can
induce customs brokers and trading firms to observe
customs laws and regulations voluntarily, and reduce
their burden significantly - from an annual average
of 200 million won in fines incurred due to non-shipment.
This service is free of charge after registration application
is filed with KTNET's portal trade site "cTradeWorld"
Meanwhile, the "customs duty refund search service"
is designed to repay prepaid customs duties to small
and medium export firms. The amount of refunds yet to
be disbursed is said to be 15.4 billion won.
By utilising various export/import related electronic
data secured by KCS, KTNET will furnish information
on refund applications through the trade and customs
clearance site "ctradeinfo.ktnet.co.kr."
From this site, on a real-time basis, trading firms
can access basic information for refund application,
the status of progress after filing of the application
and information on their own export declarations required
for filling out a simplified application for duty refund.
