Tradelink Electronic Commerce Limited held a customer luncheon with a discussion topic "The 2008 outlook of Hong Kong exporting and manufacturing industry under the challenges of China and the global economy" on 29 February 2008, which attracted some 120 guests. Ms. Pansy Yau, Deputy Chief Economist of Hong Kong Trade Development Council, was the guest speaker of the luncheon.

Ms. Yau narrated in details about the 2008 economic outlook of Hong Kong's key exporting countries, which are United States, Europe, Japan, Mainland China and other emerging countries. She pointed out that export to the United States in 2008 is expected to be uninspiring due to its economic downturn. However, the demand of Chinese and Hong Kong exports remain strong in Europe, Japan and other emerging countries as the purchasing power of European buyers has been boosted by the strength of their currencies.

Ms. Yau also remarked that China exports in 2008 are expected to remain sturdy and its continued industrial upgrade will generate opportunities for Hong Kong as a technology market place, especially for machinery and equipment for advanced production and green manufacturing.

Ms. Yau recommended Hong Kong exporters and manufacturers to increase its competitiveness by improving its supply chain management and exploring opportunities in China's domestic sales and other fledging markets, particularly the oil and commodity-rich countries.

Ms. Yau ended the presentation by answering some questions related to the economic overview raised by the Tradelink customers.
