(10 JANUARY 2002, HONG KONG) Tradelink Electronic Commerce
Limited and the Government of HKSAR announced today the
launch of the electronic data interchange (EDI) services
for processing dutiable commodities permit (DCP) applications.
This will be the fifth type of official trade-related document
following the restrained export textiles licence, certificate
of origin, production notification and import & export
declaration for which EDI service is provided.
It is the ultimate objective of the Government that paper
application of DCP be totally replaced by electronic means
after 20 July 2002. All applications for DCPs shall be submitted
using electronic services provided by Tradelink with effect
from 21 July 2002.
Mr Justin Yue, CEO of Tradelink, said, "The traders
want a service which is simple and fast, and we're able
to provide them the electronic DCP application service.
It does not only save them time and resources, it brings
them also advantages like longer service hours, easy compilation
and convenient retrieval of data and secured online transactions
using Digi-Sign ID-Certs."
To promote the electronic DCP application service, Tradelink
is offering three special long-term packages for customers
who commit to use Tradelink's electronic DCP application
service on an exclusive basis.
Customers can choose from a 3, 5 and 7-year contract for
a fixed charge over the contract period at $13, $11 and
$9 per transaction respectively. This pricing applies to
all DCP applications and both Ships' Stores and Duty-Paid,
Removal & Export Permits. Customers who register for
the DCP application service now can also enjoy free DCP
transactions until 14 March 2002.
