(27 AUGUST 2002, HONG KONG) A delegation led by Mr. Gao
Hu Cheng, Assistant Minister of the Ministry of Foreign
Trade and Economic Cooperation (MOFTEC) of China visited
Tradelink on 24 August 2002. The MOFTEC delegation visited
Singapore and Hong Kong to explore and foster future co-operation
in cross-border electronic commerce.
Tradelink is already a business partner of China International
Electronic Commerce Centre which is a unit under MOFTEC.
During the visit, MOFTEC delegation learnt of the many
services that Tradelink is already providing. In particular,
the MOFTEC delegation showed keen interest in the way Tradelink
provided support to its 53,000 customers.
Mr. Gao pointed out the similarity in vision between Tradelink
and CIECC. While the current cooperation between the two
of them was a good starting point, he hoped that it could
be used as a springboard to create more services to meet
the need of traders and manufacturers both in Hong Kong
and the Mainland.
Mr. Justin Yue, Chief Executive Officer of Tradelink said
"We found the Minister's remarks extremely encouraging.
We were taking concrete steps to this effect, and we are
hopeful that with the assistance of MOFTEC, a new service
linking Hong Kong enterprises with their manufacturing operations
in the Pearl River Delta area could be launched in the fourth
quarter of this year. Mr. Gao has now given us the impetus
to develop and launch other new services linking Hong Kong
and the Mainland."
