Tradelink Launches Electronic Service For Textiles Trader Registration Scheme

(29 May 2003, HONG KONG) Tradelink Electronic Commerce Limited, the largest electronic service provider in Hong Kong, announced today the launch of its electronic service for the delivery and processing of notifications under the Textiles Trader Registration Scheme (TTRS).

Tradelink's electronic TTRS service allows the electronic submission of all notifications under the Scheme which include Import of Textiles (Import Notification), Export of HK Origin Textiles to Non-restrained Markets (Export Notification I), Export of Non-HK Origin Textiles (Export Notification II), Export of certain Textile Samples to the USA (Export Notification III & IV) and Transhipment of Textiles (Transhipment Notification).

The TTRS notifications will be delivered electronically and directly to the Trade and Industry Department, thus streamlining the TTRS notifications process and increasing the efficiency of businesses. Moreover, traders and carriers can enjoy the benefits of greater facilitation in completing notifications with an electronic service fully integrated with Tradelink's SilkNet and ValuNet services, which will also improve accuracy with the reduction of manual work.

The electronic TTRS service is the latest government-related document added to the range of EDI (Electronic Data Interchange) services introduced jointly by the government and Tradelink since 1997. Other documents that have already become fully electronic include Restrained Textiles Export Licence application, Trade Declaration, Production Notification, Certificate of Origin, Dutiable Commodities Permit and Cargo Manifest.

Mr Justin Yue, CEO of Tradelink, said, "Tradelink undertakes to constantly develop, maintain and support electronic commerce services for government-related as well as commercial documentation to help Hong Kong traders increase operational efficiency and competitiveness."

The new electronic service is charged at HK$0.50 per Textiles Notification, which is no more than the price for the purchase of a paper Textiles Notification form. As an incentive to encourage customers to adopt the new electronic service, Tradelink is offering free transactions and other benefits in a special early-bird promotional package. For registration and enquiries, please call Tradelink Sales Hotline at 2599 1700.
