To submit an import or export notification before shipment,
customers sometimes may not have the full details and quantity
of the goods until the goods have actually been shipped.
If
you encounter this situation, you can fill in the required
information to the best of your knowledge and submit
the notification before shipment as required by Trade &
Industry Department (“TID”). On a need basis,
you can submit amendments after shipment as appropriate. However
it is worth to note some requirements laid down by TID on
amendment.
- no
extra line items can be added while unwanted ones can be
deleted
- nature
and description of goods should not be altered to a large
extent
- quantity
of goods could only be adjusted upwards by 10%
As
such, in preparing your pre-shipment notification, you are
advised to take note of these points to cater for submission
of subsequent amendments if needed.
Please
note that you can make as many amendments as you need before
23:00 of the shipment date and all these amendments are NOT
considered as post-shipment amendments and therefore will
not be subject to the "requirements" as stated above.
Particularly,
if your shipment is by road, you can skip the vehicle number
in the notification if it is unknown to you.
