(20th
January, 2003 Hong Kong) Tradelink has announced the launch
of its Automated Manifest Service which shippers, carriers,
and non-vessel operating common carriers (NVOCCs) can use
to submit cargo information to U.S. Customs Department,
24 hours prior to the lading of US-bound cargoes at foreign
ports.
Mr.
Justin Yue, CEO Tradelink, said, "The Tradelink service
offers a clear cut solution to the U.S. Customs "24-hour
Rule". However, it is Tradelink's intention to integrate
this new service with its Shipping Order service so that
carriers and NVOCCs can obtain cargo information from shippers
electronically. Also, to facilitate the implementation of
other components of the CSI, this Tradelink new service
will, as quickly as it is possible to do so, be connected
to the Hong Kong Customs Department."
Carriers
and NVOCCs who are interested in using the Tradelink Automated
Manifest Service will be required to pay just a small initial
service set up fee of HK$500. Actual usage of the service
will be charged on a per transaction basis at HK$9.90 per
Bill of Lading, without a minimum monthly charge.
To encourage
early take up of the service, Tradelink will offer a 20%
discount on the transaction charge from 1st February for
a period of 3 months. In addition, a special volume discount
will be available to users submitting more than 200 Bills
of Lading per month.
